Dreams of Movie Magic at The Prospect Hollywood
Dreams of Movie Magic at
The Prospect Hollywood
People have long moved to Los Angeles to chase their passions of acting, directing and editing and so it’s no wonder why the city’s moniker is “City of Dreams”. But actor or not, where might you stay in LA for a dreamy night’s sleep? The Prospect Hollywood is one such place.
I spent two days and one night in The Prospect’s Grand Premier King Suite with Terrace and can attest that this luxury boutique hotel has all the charm and Old Hollywood movie magic that one would hope for. Find my full review of the hotel below:

The Property and Amenities
To my surprise, The Prospect was one of those spots that, even with other guests around, feels more like a home than a hotel. These are the types of accommodations I love to look for and stay at when I travel!
We arrived around 2PM, just before check-in and decided to enjoy a cocktail and some light bar snacks in the hotel’s beautiful lobby.
The Martyn Lawrence Bullard designed property exudes cosy Hollywood glamour all the way from the lobby to each individual room. And though recently re-designed, the space used to be home to famous film industry names like Rudolph Valentino, Jean Harlow and James Dean. I was absolutely thrilled to be there, very much playing the part of an Old Hollywood Starlet arriving back into Tinseltown for a big movie premiere.
Even the property’s garden which was landscaped by LA-based, Terremoto, feels like a step back into the Golden Age of Cinema. I wish I could have stayed even longer to enjoy happy hour in the sun or a brisk evening near one of the property’s many outdoor fireplaces – a luxe escape from the hustle of Hollywood Blvd.
Another perk of staying with The Prospect is that the property is completely dog-friendly. The cost of your dog’s entire stay is just $100, but since we were only staying one night, we opted to leave my dog, Charlie, with a friend instead.
As for parking, the hotel offered us a few options:
- Gated valet parking behind the hotel costs $40/night.
- Street Parking is available on first-come-first-serve basis. Luckily hotel is located on a non-permitted street, but beware of parking during street cleaning times.
We stayed on a Sunday night and would be coming and going to dinner, so to be safe in case of any morning street cleanings, we opted for valet.
Finally, I’d be remiss not to mention the hotel’s friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Boutiques tend not to be as heavily-staffed as larger hotels and The Prospect was no exception.
However, the employees here genuinely wanted to make sure we had an amazing personalized stay, even recalling our names and previous conversations together as we interacted with them a second or even third time.

The Rooms
The Prospect was originally recommended to me by my friend, Kyle, who said it was 10/10 and the BEST boutique hotel in Hollywood. Naturally, I was intrigued and so I made a reservation for my boyfriend, Ryan, and I.
The hotel offers four types of rooms:
- Superior
- Deluxe
- Premier
- Grand Premier
We stayed in Room 24, known as the A.M. Wong room. Attributed to Hollywood’s first Chinese-American film star, Anna May Wong, this room is a Grand Premier King Suite with its own private terrace.
We quickly settled in to soak up all that we could of our decadent Hollywood Regency-designed room. The bedroom was fitted with perks like Revival New York bed linens, a carefully curated in-room cocktail and mini bar with vintage crystal sets and a flatscreen TV. I loved every inch of it – from the intricate pink and green wallpaper to the bedside rotary telephone.
The bathroom was equal to the impressive bedroom, featuring luxury amenities like a large marble and glass-encased shower, Diptyque body and hand soaps and two soft Derek Rose London bathrobes.
The terrace was also a pleasant surprise on top of an already striking city escape. There was ample seating for a medium sized group surrounded by a lush garden and an array of potted plants. We popped a bottle of Roses de Jeanne champagne there and enjoyed the warm beginnings of sunset before heading back into the city to L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele for dinner.
The star of the entire room, however, was the black-and-white clawfoot tub, which came equipped with a gold bath tray and a container of epsom salts. Being able to relax in that tub and pamper myself after dinner was the ultimate dream.

The Food and Drinks
On the day we arrived, we got in just before our room was ready and decided to enjoy a cocktail and some bar snacks in the beautiful lobby. For a boutique hotel, The Prospect’s light bites and drinks pack quite the punch! My favorite menu items were the Negroni, the Truffle Salt Potato Chips and the charcuterie board’s Quince Paste and Toasted Bread!
Guests can also order a number of other classic cocktails, wine and appetizers from the hotel lobby’s full bar. And to make it even better, all drinks come in vintage stemware – just the thing for a glam happy hour.
The next morning, we didn’t have tons of time before we had to leave for work, but the hotel’s easy breakfast spread was just right for our needs. Staff sourced croissants from Tartine, coffee from La Vittoria as well as fresh orange and green juices.
I wasn’t able to eat the croissants on account of my dairy allergy, but with how amazing the staff was during our stay, I believe they probably would have gone above and beyond to accommodate me had I properly told them of my restrictions in advance.

The Verdict
I stayed at The Prospect completely out-of-pocket and can genuinely say that this luxury boutique is the absolute Hollywood dream.
From door-to-door, the exquisite details and down-to-earth service make this a stay that is 100% worth coming back to again and again.
