Bom Bom Bom

Neighborhood: Penha de França
What I Drank: U.M.A. Vinho Verde and Marjan Simcic Pinot Grigio Brda 2021
Stepping into Bom Bom Bom natural wine bar and record shop in Lisbon was like entering a hidden gem tucked away in the bustling city. The cozy and eclectic space instantly charmed me with its shelves adorned with vinyl records and a well-curated selection of natural wines. As I sipped on a glass of smoky, yet creamy orange wine, the soothing tunes from the bar’s DJ booth filled the air, creating a harmonious ambiance that made it impossible not to lose track of time.
Moreover, Bom Bom Bom’s knowledgeable staff expertly guided me through the wines they currently had. I left with not only an exceptional bottle to enjoy later on at dinner, but also a newfound appreciation for the bar’s seamless marriage of music and natural wine.

Senhor Uva

As a casual and friendly neighborhood bar and bistro, Senhor Uva serves creative terroir-driven natural wines and seasonal tapas.
While dining at their bar area, I was blown away by the staff’s recommended wines and accompanying dishes. The light and acidic Tarramoto 2022 Orange Wine in particular paired perfectly with Senhor Uva’s Green Jackfruit “Ceviche” with Clementine and Avocado.
What’s more, their food menu is vegetarian-based with plenty of vegan options in case you’re looking for amazing dairy-free restaurants in Lisbon.
Neighborhood: Estrela
What I Drank: Tarramoto 2022 Orange Wine and Ciclo Vinho Branco 2021
What I Ate: Ceviche with Green Jackfruit, Aji Amarillo, Clementine + Avocado and Oyster Mushroom with Bok Choy, Soy, Peanut and Coconut

Locals & Nomads
Located above Alfama in Lisbon’s São Vicente neighborhood is Locals & Nomads, a snug wine shop with cheeky and colorful entrance.

Neighborhood: São Vicente
What I Drank: Coliseu Tinto 2019
What I Ate: Meat Plate*
*with off-menu dairy-free bread
What sets this wine bar apart is its staff, who go above and beyond to accommodate customers. During my visit, after ordering a bold glass of red, I asked about tapas pairings. While discussing my allergy, the owner said their meat plate normally comes with brioche, but that she could make me a special dairy-free version with a different type of bread.
I agreed, only to see her rush to the grocery shop next store and emerge with a fresh, new loaf . She quickly went to the back of the bar, and then came back out with the sliced bread and a plate of different types of cured meats. If that isn’t personalized service, I don’t know what is! I’m so grateful for the wonderful wine, food and customer experience I had at Locals & Nomads. It’s a wine bar I’d recommend to just about anyone.

Holy Wine!

Tucked away in an unsuspecting and cosy building, Holy Wine! was probably the most darling and intimate natural wine bar I visited in Lisbon.
Consisting of just a small counter and a few stools, Holy Wine! is a spot inviting lots of conversation and chance encounters with other patrons.
And despite its small size, the bar’s shelves are filled with a unique and diverse range of bottles. I personally sampled two glasses of orange wine here, pairing my choices with one of Holy Wine!’s snack offerings: a plate of fresh olives.

Prado
Prado, a captivating natural wine bar bistrot and neighboring restaurant in Lisbon, surpassed all my expectations.
I stopped by the restaurant first. With rustic wood furnishings, green plants and painted accents, I was drawn in by its minimal, yet warm ambiance. Although I ate lunch before I arrived and was just popping in for a quick glass, Prado’s knowledgeable staff still guided me through a culinary journey, suggesting complimentary food pairings in the event I decided to order a meal later. I ended up ordering a glass of white wine before heading around the corner.
Their wine bar bistrot, Prado Mercearia, was of equal caliber. The biggest difference was that it was smaller space with even more charming decor and, of course, wine bottles and artisanal goods for sale. I took one bottle home with me, along with a branded bag to carry it.
