Miradouro de Santa Luzia
Miradouro de Santa Luzia is not just a stunning viewpoint, but also a beautiful azulejo terrace framing a small garden in Lisbon’s Alfama neighborhood.
In spring specifically, Miradouro de Santa Luzia is surrounded with bougainvillea, roses and other stunning blooms, making this an ideal spot for photography.

Belém Tower
Belém Tower stands on the banks of the Tagus River, offering photographers a captivating subject with its intricate Manueline architecture, striking views of the river, and the opportunity to capture the soft glow of sunrise or sunset.
I visited Belém Tower shortly after sunrise and had the opportunity to relish in this landmark completely alone. With the world around me still asleep, I captured the first rays of the summer sun bathing Belém Tower in a soft morning glow. Accompanied by a rhythmic symphony of waves against stone, the moment whispered promises of adventure, beckoning me to embrace the new day.

Fronteira Palace Gardens
If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-path photo spot in Lisbon, the Fronteira Palace Gardens is one of the best.
With perfectly manicured hedges, large geometric fountains and stunning spring blooms, this is a garden that will undoubtedly inspire and sweep you away by its beauty.
Perhaps the Garden’s most photogenic part, however, is its “Galeria das Artes“, a giant terrace of azulejos and sculptures of both real-life and allegorical figures wrapped along a larger fountain thats home to a few local ducks. Walking along the terrace was absolutely captivating. Everywhere I turned, there was an enchanting new perspective to capture and take in the space.
It’s a true hidden gem for avid photographers, nature enthusiasts, animal lovers and history buffs alike.

Under Arco da Rua Augusta
Standing in the heart of Lisbon is one of the city’s most famous landmarks: the historic Arco da Rua Augusta. It stands as a powerful symbol of Lisbon’s resilience and rejuvenation following the devastating earthquake, fire, and tsunami of 1755, which had destroyed the city, marking a new era in its history.
While many tourists climb to the top for the epic views, I love stopping just underneath its colonnade for the beautiful details, flattering lighting, dramatic depth.

Praça do Comércio
Just next to the Rua Augusta Arch is the city’s most famous square: Praça do Comércio. Framed by bright yellow buildings and the magestic Tagus River, the square is a quintessential Lisbon photo op.
For the best experience, arrive early in the morning while the city is still waking up. Not only will you be able to enjoy the square at a more peaceful time of day, but you’ll also be able to photograph the surrounding architecture under a soft morning glow.

For fantasy-like photos that will make you feel as if you’ve stepped into the world of Game of Thrones, look no further than Castelo de São Jorge.
This historic fortress has plenty of photogenic corners and gorgeous lookouts to inspire. And if you like to snap wildlife, you’re in luck because several peacocks live on the castle grounds, allowing for many unique photo opportunities.

Alfama (Exact Locations Below)
More of a whole neighborhood rather than a specific address, Alfama is an absolute must-visit in Lisbon. Having explored this enchanting neighborhood myself, I can attest to its photogenic allure.
Lose yourself in maze-like alleys adorned with vibrant tiles and colorful laundry hanging from windows and let the Fado music that permeates the air inspire your creative lens. With its captivating blend of historic architecture, narrow cobblestone streets, and breathtaking viewpoints, Alfama is a treasure trove of photographic opportunities that will leave you in awe of Lisbon’s undeniable charm.

Mosteiro São Vicente De Fora
Dating back to 1582, Mosteiro São Vicente De Fora is a culturally significant Lisbon site blending Renaissance and Baroque architecture.
What makes this monastery particularly unique for photography is its large collection of azulejo tiles. Its intricate interiors, stunning courtyards, impressive staircases and jaw-dropping rooftop all display traditional Portuguese tile-work, allowing visitors with an eye for photography plenty of opportunities to be creative with their surrounding environment.
