    25 Photos to Inspire You to Visit Tikal in Guatemala

    Have you ever wanted to visit an imaginary town, country or even planet from a film series like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or Star Wars? While more often than not places like these are solely fantasy brought to life on a Hollywood sound stage, every once in a while you’ll find one that does reach beyond the confines of a film set into a real-life setting.

    This is exactly what I found during a day trip from Belize to Guatemala’s Tikal National Park. As the filming location for Yavin 4, the jungle moon from Star Wars, this Mayan archeological city has a mystical and otherworldly quality that was not only perfect for the sci-fi fantasy franchise, but also difficult to describe in words alone.
